Embrace the Season You're In

To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1

How many times have you been in a certain place in life but you wanted to be somewhere else?  You may be in a season like this right now.  You know how it is, there are singles who want to get married more than anything in the world, while there are married people who would give anything to be single again.  Or there are some people who couldn't wait to have children, but when they discovered the challenges of parenthood they're now anxious for the kids to grow up and leave home.  Is it that we don't quite know what we want, or do we think that the grass greener on the other side?  I believe we become discontent when times get hard or when we're not where we want to be when we want to be there.

I'm sure you can relate to what it feels like to want to rush from point A to point B.  And when we finally get to point B, we want to be at point C.  But this is no way to live life, rushing through the seasons.  You see God is a master planner, Who is meticulous with His timing. Even the weather has seasons which last three months, before we can enjoy the next one.

Just this morning, while cleaning my kitchen, I began to talk to the Lord and tell Him how thankful I am to be where I am at in this particular time of my life.  Interestingly enough I had been dreading this time in my life.  In my mind I wasn't ready to be a grandmother or an empty nester.  But now that our grandchild is here, and our son is gone off to college, I'm enjoying this new place in life and all that goes with it.  God in His infinite wisdom and divine timing has strategically set things in order according to His divine plans and purpose for my life.

With feelings of awe of this new place, I asked God, how did I get here?  God has so smoothly aligned every season of my life to perfection, and I'm simply amazed by His handiwork.  Wasn't it just yesterday when I was fighting for my family, struggling to maintain my peace and joy, and wondering when things would get better?  In answering my question, the Lord gently spoke to my heart, It seems easy to you because you yielded to Me and rested in Me and gave me room to work.  It reminds me the verse where Jesus said, "Come to me all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest unto your souls." Matthew 11:28,29

Even when we don't understand what God is up to, or why we're in the season we're in, simple trust in the Lord will carry us through until we get to where we desire to be.  I've learned to embrace the seasons of life and learn from them.  Even when times are good or not so good, or whether they're easy or difficult, there's a lesson in every season and something to be gained from it.  Embrace the place you're in and get something out of it to take with you to the next place.  God knows just what He's doing and He's using the season you're in right now to prepare you for your future.

Many blessings,

Kathy

  1. Great Post my new friend. I too have had similar thoughts as I look to my life today vs. where I was a few years ago, and the key was..... surrender!
    Keep up the great work!

  3. Hi Kathy,

I enjoyed reading this post. I sometimes find myself looking at the small picture and ignoring the fact that God is looking at the big/small picture…always. He knows the plans He has for us. So I’m learning to embrace the season in which I am, allowing God to guide every step, and waiting patiently on the Lord.

Also, your grandchild is absolutely adorable!
    Thanks for sharing. God bless.

  4. Thank you Keidy! When we learn how to embrace the season and become determined to get out of it whatever the Lord wants us to learn, we come out of it sooner and with much more ease. I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed this post. And yes, we are enjoying our little grandchild so much. Thank you for your kind words.

    God Bless!
    Kathy
