Will You Sink or Swim?

Following your God given destiny will often times lead you into deep waters.  And being in deep waters leaves you feeling as if there is nothing underneath you holding you up.  As a matter of fact, people who don't know how to swim will usually stay in shallow waters where they feel safe, and where they can feel the bottom of the pool or ocean floor beneath them.  But as children of God we must leave our comfort zones and move out into what God has called us to do, trusting Him like never before as we embark upon our destiny.

I'm sure you remember the story of Peter walking on water?  That was something he had no ability to do on his own.  It required something more.  I admire Peter because he was tenacious.  He was bold, daring, and willing to take a risk.  Peter had seen Jesus walking on the water and he wanted to do it too.  Calling out to Jesus he said, "Lord, if it's you, command me to come to you on the water."  And Jesus simply replied, "Come Matthew (14:28-30)."  As Peter stepped out to do the impossible, his success was determined by his faith and his focus.  Peter did fine as long as his eyes were focused on Jesus, but soon as he focused on the impossible circumstances surrounding him, he started to sink.

Whatever we aim to accomplish in life will require our faith, trust, and total dependence upon God.  If we take your eyes off Him and stop relying on Him for direction and instruction through prayer, we will surely sink.  But if we seek the Lord and stay connected to Him through our daily prayer life and time in His Word, we will learn to swim in deep waters.  God us wants to succeed at whatever He gives us to accomplish, but we must decide if we will sink or swim.

Blessings,

Kathy
