How He Loves Us!
Have you ever stopped to really think about just how much God loves us? The other day I was listening to this song in my prayer time and tears began flow down my cheeks as I worshipped the Lord from the depths of my heart. I thought about how God pours His love upon us, covering us like a blanket, and in essence He covers us with Himself (His presence) because He is Love! He does this even when we haven't done anything to deserve it. The bible repeatedly tells us about this great Love that God has for us.
- God commendth His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us, Romans 5:8.
- God so loved the world that He gave us His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life, John 3:16.
- Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us that we should be called the children of God, I John 3:1.
Then I thought to myself, WHY? Not why He loves us in spite of ourselves, but why we stand afar off from Him? Why often times many of God's children fail to spend time with Him on a daily basis, loving Him and worshiping Him for His greatness, His awesomeness, and for all that He is?
Can you imagine what it would be like to sit in a chair in a room just waiting for your children to come to see you and spend time with you? How lonely that would be. I believe that's how God must feel as He waits for us to come and spend time with Him in prayer. So to answer my own question, I think there are many reasons why some don't spend quality time with the Lord, and only each individual really knows why. But the truth of the matter is, there should be no reason sufficient enough to keep us away.
May we all strive to spend more time with God, drawing near to His throne on grace. As we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us. Let us go into prayer with the sole purpose of simply spending time and showering Him with our love, without the ulterior motive of receiving something back. This is what true worship is all about. The Father is seeking true worshippers, those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth. Let's not stay away, He's waiting on us.
Love and Blessings,
Kathy
