Who's Doing the Building?

As I was getting into bed the other night I heard this verse of in my spirit, Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it...Psalm 127:1a  I reached over and picked up my bible from my nightstand and read and pondered over it until I went to sleep.  I knew God was showing me something to help me in the season that I'm in.  I love the way the Holy Spirit reminds us of God's Word.  When we pay attention to His promptings we will gain insight and direction to help us on our journey.

Last year was a big year for me as I was blessed to release my first book and launch my own business.  Neither of the two were a small undertaking.  I had to rely on the Lord with every step of the process.  And in spite of the fact that I was filled with joy and excitement over these blessings in my life, the experience left me feeling like I had just given birth to two children.

Psalms 127:1 reminds me that no matter how much effort or skill I put into what I'm doing, the Lord is the One really building the house (whatever I'm trying to establish).  In other words, in all of my human effort, I need the Lord to "kiss" my efforts, bless the work of my hands, and put His stamp of approval upon all that I do.  Otherwise it would all be in vain.

If you want to accomplish something significant in your life, and succeed at doing it, you will have to take time to pray and seek the Lord about it.  He does the building and will bless the work of your hands according to His plans, not your own.  We must put Him first and always be mindful of the fact that aside from Him we can do nothing.

Lovingly,

Kathy
