Praying From Your Heart

Praying from my heart is the only way I know how to pray.  After entering into the presence of the Lord through praise and worship, I then take time to quiet myself before the Lord.  Learning to be still and wait in God's presence may seem awkward at first, because we have been conditioned to go into prayer doing a lot of talking.  But instead of diving into prayer and praying what "we think" we need to pray about, we need to take a moment to be still and listen.  When we're still, we can discover what's at the forefront of our heart. Now we're allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us in prayer.

I can remember a time when I joined hands with someone in prayer, I stopped to take a moment to listen and allow the Holy Spirit to lead me, and it made the other person uncomfortable.  They asked me, "What's all that for?" I realized that this person didn't know anything about praying from the heart. I had to take time to explain that I was allowing the Holy Spirit to lead me as to how to pray about the situation.  When we rush into prayer, we can miss what God wants to do in prayer.

Spirit led prayers, prayed from the heart are known as fervent (heartfelt) prayers.  James 5:16b in the Amplified Bible says, The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man (or woman) makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].  Praying from the heart is a powerful way to pray, and it brings forth results.   We can talk to the Lord about what's on our heart, and He can start trusting us with what's on His heart.  With this heart to heart exchange taking place, how can prayer be boring? If your prayer life seems boring or is lacking power, try praying from your heart.  This is a powerful way to pray and it will take your prayer life to a whole new level.

Get excited about prayer!
